COMMUNITY BENEFIT SHOW

It’s a Wonderful Life

Theatre Ancaster’s annual Christmas Radio production to benefit Ancaster Community Services presents this year’s show: It’s a Wonderful Life.

The production reproduces the live radio show based on the famous 1947 movie starring Jimmy Stewart as the unassuming town hero who comes close to jumping from the town bridge, only to find that without him, the quality of life in his town would have been much poorer. Presented as a live radio drama, the show features sound effects by our live foley team and mimics the original radio ads of the period. This radio show is presented at Theatre Ancaster’s homey and intimate Old Firehall theatre with treats and hot cider provided to help our audience feel like they’re snuggled up around the fire and listening to the show over the family radio.

Everyone involved in this production volunteers their time, and nearly all production elements are donated to ensure that Theatre Ancaster can donate 100% of the ticket sales to Ancaster Community Services. Come and be a part of this heart-warming holiday tradition that supports our community.

Al Croxall

Al Croxall

Director

Al has had the privilege and honor of being with TA since before the beginning. He is amazed and a little in awe of how our shows with Gord Conroy and Ralf Hakenberg at Ancaster High School starting in 1982 and our: “Let’s put on a show for the Ancaster Bicentennial” in 1992, has evolved into the amazing community gem it is today. He still likes to keep his hand in behind the scenes and enjoys working with his wife and partner, Krys, in the Classics and Christmas Benefit shows. Break a leg, everyone.

Krys Croxall

Kyrs Croxall

Director

Krys is a long-time member of Theatre Ancaster, appearing in productions from the beginning and collaborating with her husband, Founding Director, Al Croxall, on numerous projects. She credits him and her daughter, Lindsay, a professional triple-threat performer for over a decade, for making theatre a Croxall family affair and nurturing her passion for the arts. After retiring from her first career as a superintendent with the Hamilton Wentworth District School Board, she joined the Board of Directors in 2014 and served as Secretary and Treasurer, before becoming President of Theatre Ancaster in 2023.

Krys has produced many TA shows such as Nunsense, I Love You You’re Perfect Now Change, Chicago and Annie. Last year, she and Al directed the Mainstage production of The Foursome. She and Al also produce/direct the annual Theatre Ancaster Radio Show Christmas Benefit which has raised almost $20,000 for Ancaster Community Services since 2018 (despite a three-year hiatus during the pandemic). In 2019 she and Al started the Classics Company Musical, a successful program for seniors over 55, with shows such as South Pacific, Guys and Dolls and Oklahoma!
