If you have read our Shining Star articles, you know that we are very fortunate to have extraordinarily talented and dedicated members in our Company.  Bob Carle is no exception. In his short time with Theatre Ancaster, Bob has been a stage manager, producer, director, spotlight operator, and performer. In case that’s not enough, he is also the secretary on our Board of Directors!

Bob first joined Theatre Ancaster in 2014 as Annas in our production of Jesus Christ Superstar. He had no musical theatre experience prior to this performance but decided to audition anyway as he always wanted to be in a musical and has loved Jesus Christ Superstar since he was a kid. Bob did not realize this one decision would impact his life so greatly. The meaningful relationships he has developed within the TA community has made this Company feel like a second home to Bob. So much so that he moved closer to avoid traffic on his frequent trips into Ancaster.

Bob is recently retired from HWDSB where he spent 30 years teaching music and drama. He is also a talented musician and has played in multiple bands.  His dedication and hard-working personality, along with his attention to detail and ability to work as a team player, makes him a perfect fit for the multiple hats he wears in the Company—and his sense of humour is always an added bonus!

Bob made his directorial debut in Mousetrap this fall.  The show was a smashing success! This experience allowed Bob to see first-hand what it takes to put on a Theatre Ancaster production, which can sometimes be a difficult task since you must be very careful not to let anything slip through the cracks. Bob says, “it’s not always easy to be so observant when you are so close to something, so being surrounded by other uber-talented people is critical.”

Bob encourages anyone with an interest in theatre or being a part of a wonderful community of people, whether that’s performing or helping behind the scenes, to get involved with Theatre Ancaster. You can next see Bob’s work as Stage Manager for our upcoming show British Invasion: The Concert.  Bob will be involved in next season’s Fall Main Stage show as well, but we can’t quite reveal exactly what it’s going to be (yet!).  The official announcement of our 2020/21 season will be on April 24.
