Auditions - Theatre Ancaster’s 2019 Firehall Show

You're A Good Man Charlie Brown

Theatre Ancaster is proud to announce upcoming auditions for its 2019 Firehall show The Mousetrap.

The Mousetrap is a murder mystery written by renowned author Agatha Christie. It tells the story of a
group of strangers, trapped at a snowed in at Monkswell Manor; a boarding house in rural England.
One of the visitors to the house is a murderer, but no one knows who. A detective arrives to solve the
mystery!

The Mousetrap holds the distinction of being the longest running play in history – it opened in
London’s West end in 1952 and is still running today!

This should truly be a fun show to do and audiences will love trying to solve the mystery as the story
unfolds. *Note – This is a play, not a musical. No singing or dance is required.

The Characters

Mollie Ralston – Co-Owner of the new boarding house. A young woman with an ingenuous air.
Giles Ralston – Co-Owner of the boarding house. A touch arrogant.
Christopher Wren – A wild-looking neurotic young man. He has a confiding, almost childish manner.
Mrs. Boyle – An imposing woman with big presence.
Major Metcalf – A square-shouldered man. He is very military in manner and bearing.
Miss Casewell – A young woman with a forceful way about her.
Mr. Paravicini – A mysterious, foreign visitor to the guest house.
Detective Sergeant Trotter – The detective who arrives on the scene. Cheerful and a ‘regular Joe’.

About The Characters

The play, as written, calls for Molly, Giles, Miss Casewell, Christopher and Trotter to be somewhere in their twenties. Ideally, we’d like to be true to this but are willing to stretch this if it will serve us well. Mrs. Boyle, Paravicini and Major Metcalf should be somewhat more…mature.

*Apart from Mr. Paravicini, who has a ‘foreign’ accent, all characters should have passable British accents.
